Ms. Rose Gandy-Bailey

It is with heartfelt sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Rose Gandy-Bailey of Charlotte, NC, formally of Darlington. Ms. Bailey passed on Wednesday, April 10,  2019 in a Charlotte medical facility. 

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Round O Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. 

                                     ~Obituary~

“There comes a time in everyone’s life when they must leave the ones they love and are loved by....”

Ms. Rose Gandy-Bailey was born in Darlington County on June 2, 1955, a beautiful daughter  of the late Henry Jr. and Janie Mae Edwards Gandy.  

She was the widow of Larry Bailey.  After a long valiant fight with her illness, Rose gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1973.  She was an active member of the Choir, Dramatics Club, School Newspaper and Miss Mayo Court.   After graduation she furthered her education at Florence-Darlington Technical College.

She was employed at General Electric for several years and later moved to Columbia, SC where she was employed at B. C. Components until she  retired.  

Rose was a member of Round-O Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of The Usher Board until her health declined.  

Rose was a beautiful, quiet and easy going person and to know her was to love her. Always fiercely devoted and protective of her loved ones.  She will dearly missed.

Survivors left to cherish her loving memories are: Her loving siblings: Larry (Gloria) Gandy of Darlington, SC, Teddie Gandy of Darlington, SC and Janice (Larry) Preston-Dixon of Leesburg, GA; a special sister, Deloris (Ralph) Dixon of Clearfield, Utah; Nieces: Livanga Gandy Hines of Charlotte, NC, Ericka (Tallen) Shields of Charlotte, NC, Amber (George) Gray and Jhameka Johnson both of Darlington, SC; nephews: Nahshonn Hudson, Nickolas Hudson both of Charlotte, SC, Braxdton NoHeart of Charlotte, NC and Christopher Jackson of Chicago, IL; a host of grandnieces and nephews who she helped co-grand parented with love ; a special brother-in-law, Willie Hudson, Jr.;  special cousins: Corrie Mae Lide and Tirrell Eagleton; a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at 209 West McIver Road, Darlington.
