It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Roshell Wallace of Johnsonville, SC, formally of Darlington, SC. Mr. Wallace passed on Friday, August 9, 2019 in a Florence hospital.  

Funeral service will be 3:00PM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Christ Temple Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens. 

                                                                   ~Obituary~

Mr. Roshell Wallace was born April 1, 1956 in Darlington, SC, a son of the late Willie Wallace and Hattie Mae Williams.  He resided with his grandparents the late Irvin and Rosa Williams and was reared by his loving mother and his step-father, Ishmeal Gardner.  He departed this life on Friday, August 9, 2019 in McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC

He received his former education in the Darlington County Public Schools where he attended St. John’s High School with Class of 1974.

In his youth, he was baptized and  joined Flat Creek Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend McWhite.

Roshell was employed at Darlington Building Supply Company retiring after 30 years.  After retirement he worked at Doves Heating and Air-condition until his health declined.

“Pa”, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was a loving, sweet, kindhearted son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.  To know him was to love him.  “Pa” loved watching Old Westerns and being with his family. He would always meet his fellow man with a smile because he never met a stranger.  Anything he could do to help you…he would.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Wright Wallace.

Those left to cherish his memory are:  his children: Audrey Williams, Stacie Powers (Murjani Lee), Michelle Powers and Michael Wallace; five siblings: Shirley Pierce, Romell Rouse, Ravenel Gardner, Francis Wallace all of Darlington, SC and Rosemary (Stacey) Carraway of Hartsville, SC; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three uncles: Clemon Williams of Hartsville, SC, Arthur (Lucy) Williams and Roosevelt (Arlene) Wallace both of Darlington, SC; three aunts: Louise Williamson, Cinda Wallace both of Darlington, SC and Mary Greene of Baltimore, MD; 14 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Wilhelmenia Doreen Wallace Davis and a grandson, Kenneth Powers, Jr.

Visitation for the relatives and friends of Mr. Wallace will be held at the home of a daughter, Ms. Michelle Powers, 3809 Sandpit Road, Johnsonville and the home of a sister, Mrs. Romella Rouse from 12 noon to 8pm, 336 Rhodes Community Road, Darlington.
