It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Michael "Byrd" Wilson of Darlington. Mr. Wilson expired on Monday, September 2, 2019 in a Florence medical center.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Christ Temple Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Darlington Memorial Gardens, D. Avenue, Darlington.

Mr. Michael Roosevelt Wilson was born on October 28, 1963 in Darlington, South Carolina a son of Barbara Ann Jackson and the late Michael Roosevelt Wilson, Sr. He departed this life on Monday, September 2, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC after a brief illness.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School where he attended Mayo High School.
He was a formally employed at Canfor Lumber Company of Darlington, SC.
“Byrd”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a loving person who didn’t meet a stranger. He was a loving father and fiancé. He loved everyone that he came in contact with. He loved having fun and having a good time.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his mother, Barbara Ann Jackson of Darlington, SC; his fiancé, Valarie Lunn; his daughter, Odera Wilson both of the home; one brother, Franklin Jackson of Darlington, SC; two uncles: Jimmy (Diane) Jackson and Nathaniel Jackson both of Darlington, SC; three aunts: Aileen James, Betty Dargan and Carrie Hall all of Darlington, SC; a niece, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for the Wilson family will be held at the residence, 309 King Edward Street, Darlington.
