~Life Story~
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:7
“I’m free from all perplexity and pain: I shall not wake in this world again.”
Journey Begins………..
A Time To Be Born….Edward Wingate was born on September 7, 1934 in the Oates Community of Darlington County to the late Mr. Joseph Wingate Sr. and the late Ethel Jacobs Wingate. Edward was the fifth child, which symbolizes God’s grace, goodness and favor.
A Time To Die….On the afternoon of April 11, 2019; he departed his earthly life as he slipped peacefully away into his eternal rest at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC. It was a bittersweet occasion; bitter to us because we lost our loved one, but sweet because God saw fit to end his suffering.
A Time to Grow….”Elbo” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, attended the public schools in Darlington County.
A Time to Worship….At an early age he joined Community Baptist Church, Darlington, SC. In later years; he attended Tabernacle Worship Center, Darlington, SC.
A Time To Love…Although, he never had any children of his own, he helped to raise and care for his nieces and nephews with a firm hand.
A Time To Live…..Edward worked in the farming community of Darlington County all of his life. He was also a great handy man, known for his famous BBQ sauce, if asked he didn’t hesitate to share his recipe or whip up a batch.
While his presence will be missed by us, we do not mourn his death because the wisdom and love he gave will never be forgotten so he will always be with us.
