It is with heartfelt sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the transition of Mr. Charles Garrett Arthur of Florence, SC. Mr. Arthur expired on Friday, August 09, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Arthur was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Lang Arthur and the late Charles Arthur.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Lawson Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Charles Garrett Arthur was born on October 14, 1976 in Darlington, SC. The son of a devoted father, Charles Wesley Arthur who preceded him in death and a loving, devoted mother who cared for him untiringly with unconditional love during his illness, Elizabeth Lang Arthur. He transitioned on Friday, August 9, 2019 at his residence after an extended illness.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County public school system. He was a 1995 graduate of Mayo High School where he played football making the #79 (Big Cheese) famous in the Arthur household.
At an early age, he joined Lawson Grove Baptist Church and attended until his health declined.
He was employed at Pee Dee Mental Health Center in Florence, SC until he became disabled.
Garrett was a loving, son, father, nephew, classmate and friend whose signature was his loving smile and kind nature. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Leaving to cherish his memories are: his mother, Elizabeth Lang Arthur of the home; his sons: Kenaz Rasaan Arthur, Kemuel Rakeen Arthur, and Kenan Rakeem Arthur all of Florence, SC; a half brother, D’Angelo Brisbon of Darlington; a special cousin whom he so fondly called Uncle Rufus (Beverly) Hamlin of Darlington; a most caring and attentive aunt and uncle, Julia and James Peterson; a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Visitation for the Arthur Family will be held at the residence, 1042 Annelle Drive, Florence.
