Mr. Billy J. Shefton

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Billy J. Shefton of Darlington. Mr. Shefton expired on Monday, September 9, 2019 in a Florence medical center.  

Funeral service is 12 Noon on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Glorious Apostolic Church.

Mr. Billy Joe Shefton departed this life on Monday, September 9, 2019 in MUSC, Florence, South Carolina.  He was born in Williamsburg County on August 21, 1963 a son of the late George and Margaret Skinner Shefton.

He attended the public schools of Florence County.

He was employed at Kalmar Bark until his health declined.

Billy was united in Holy Wedlock to the former Miss Dorothy Jean Oliver on December 15, 1983.  This union was blessed with two children.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. 

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Dorothy J. Shefton of the home; two children: Michael D. Shefton and Breanne Shefton both of Darlington, SC; five brothers: Lawrence (Mary) Lewis, Marion (Maranda) Shefton both of Florence, SC, Carl Shefton of New Haven, CT, Howard (Jackie) Shefton of Cleveland, OH and James Shefton of Baltimore, MD; five sisters: Sarah Eaddy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Valerie Shefton of Anderson, SC, Margaret (Frank) Smith, Pastor Gloria Cooper, Georgia L. Shefton and Lula D. Wright all of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Shefton will be held at the residence of Minister Caldonia Lyde of 1344 Farrow Ridge Court, Darlington.
