Mother Lillian Sanders Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mother Lillian Sanders of Charleston, SC.  Mother Sanders is the grandmother of Pastor Bobby (Evangelist Tonya) Flowers, Jr. Mother Sanders transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, November 7, 2019 in a Florence Hospice House. 

Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Twelve Noon at St. Mark A.M.E. Church 5672 Salters Hill Road, Ravenel, SC. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 2915 Ashley Phosphate Rd, North Charleston, SC.

A Time To Be Born:
     Mrs. Lillian Simmons Sanders was in Park Island, Meggett, SC on August 14, 1926 a daughter of the late Chris Mood and Victoria Murray-Wilson.  She was the granddaughter of the late Lillie Simmons.
 
A Time To Live:   
     She received her formal education from Jane Edwards in Youngs Island and Rantowles Elementary in Rantowles, SC.
     On December 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to the late Eddie Sanders.
     She was employed as a “Nanny” and helped cleaned many home and raised many other children for the Toporek’s, Dr. John and Odessa Blanding, Ernest and Sarah Jenkins, Margaret Phillips and Alva Lacock.
 
A Time To Worship:
      She was a faithful member of Greater Middleton Chapel A.M.E. Church, Charleston, SC where she served faithfully as a member, Missionary, Usher and Choir Member. She was a true prayer warrior who loved the Lord.
 
A Time To Die
     On Thursday morning, November 7, 2019 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC, Lillian transitioned from this life to be with her heavenly Father.  Lillian was a loving, caring, supportive daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and church member.
     She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Elizabeth Flowers; a brother, Freddy Murray; a sister, Thelma Mitchell; two grandsons: Curtis Sanders and Shaquille Sanders and a great great-great granddaughter, Dontasia Russell.
      
A Time To Celebrate:   
      She leaves to cherish her precious memories and legacy: her children:  Patrick Byrant Sanders, Luchria (Ray) Roberts, Ruthy Mae Butler, Martha Pryor, Mary (Steve) Roberts, Deloris (Sammie) Ceasar, Deborah Cook and a special adopted daughter, Sally Jenkins Hare; two brothers: Robert Wilson and Edward (Jessica) Gadson both of Hollywood, SC; nine sisters:  Ivey Wilson, Janie Fludd, Willotta Wilson both of N. Charleston, SC, Victoria Ravenel of Hanahan, SC, Barbara Mood of Bronx, NY, Lisa Canady, Olyvia (Marvin) Mitchell, Doretha Heyward, Frances (Solomon) Matthews all of Hollywood, SC; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-five great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for relatives and friends of Mother Lillian Sanders will be at the residence of a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Pastor Bobby and Evangelist Tonya Flowers, 1581 Society Hill Road, Darlington.
